Join us as we read the Bible is story form to look at the big picture of God Assume Power and Devotion to His people. Though out the Bible there is a theme of Jesus so keep this in mined as you are reading. The first sing of Jesus is in Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let US make man in OUR image, in OUR likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." This is the first signs of the Trinity.

I pray that this will become a great adventure In Gods word.

1 Abraham was now old and well advanced in years, and the LORD had blessed him in every way. 2 He said to the chief [l] servant in his household, the one in charge of all that he had, "Put your hand under my thigh. 3 I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, 4 but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac."

I found the means of making a oath to be a bit odd. Would you ask some one to put there hand under your thigh to make a oath with you. I think not.
So what is behind this action in the time of Abraham?

I found this in a commentary by Adam Clarke

“When we put the circumstances mentioned in this and the third verse together, we shall find that they fully express the ancient method of binding by oath in such transactions as had a religious tendency. 1. The rite or ceremony used on the occasion: the person binding himself put his hand under the thigh of the person to whom he was to be bound; i.e., he put his hand on the part that bore the mark of circumcision, the sign of God's covenant, which is tantamount to our kissing the book, or laying the hand upon the New Testament or covenant of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Though out the scriptures we see sing of the powerful faith in the covenant that God had maid with Abraham, even though he did not receive the lands that where promise in his life time he still had faith in the promises of God and instilled it in his offspring.

God has a covenant with us to Though Jesus Christ. If we believe in him we shell have Eternal Life (John 3:16).
