The Bible tells us to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
What does it mean to spur? What does spur mean to you? We use spurs while training and working a horse. Not as a means of punishment or to be pushy, but as a means to encourage and move the horse. The term “to spur” means to encourage one to push on. We want to encourage the horse to move a specific way, so that it can navigate the path we need to take. I call my spurs “Directional Control Devices”.
Our words to one another should be like a spur in a horse’s side. Not to abuse or hurt, but to encourage people to do good and love one another for the glory of God. Can we make our voices Directional Control Devices, to encourage those around us so that we may help them take the narrow trail? So let’s all strap on a pair of spurs and guide one another onto the narrow trail up the Putting On The Spurs
mountains.

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching
